Your questions answered
You'll find most commonly asked questions below in our FAQ. If your question isn't answered, feel free to contact us.
Will my lawn change during the different seasons?
Yes. All of the lawn varieties we sell here at Lilydale Instant Lawn are summer grasses, meaning they are drought tolerant and tough. Summer grasses are most active during the warmer months – September to May in Victoria.
Summer grasses go dormant during the cooler months, meaning they experience little to no growth. We recommend fertilising at the beginning of winter and the beginning of spring to ensure a healthy lush lawn.
In the event of a severe frost, your grass may experience some colour loss. If you see wear in your grass during the cooler months, we recommend reducing traffic until spring.
The good news is, as soon as the warmer weather returns your grass will self-repair and regain its vibrant green sheen.
If I have questions and need advice about my lawn can Lilydale Instant Lawn help?

Do I need to top dress with white washed sand?
As our exclusive QWELTS are cut thick, it is not necessary to top dress with sand. However, if you choose, you can apply whitewashed sand to the edges of your QWELT pieces. An appropriate amount is 0.5 m3 of whitewashed sand per 100 m2 of turf.
Sand adds weight to the turf, improving root-to-soil contact, and also stops the edges from drying out too much.
